This Programme Finance Associate role supports the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) in Sudan, operating under the supervision of the Programme Manager and technical guidance from the Operations Manager.
Job Purpose
The Programme Finance Associate is responsible for reviewing partner financial documents and advising on expenditure eligibility for timely liquidations and disbursements. This role ensures compliance with UN Women financial rules and regulations, supports the administration and monitoring of the WPHF budget, and assists in financial project closure. The associate also plays a key role in quality assurance of responsible parties' financial management, supports donor reporting, and facilitates knowledge sharing on financial best practices.
Responsibilities
Administer and monitor the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund budget in compliance with UN Women rules and regulations. Track budget utilization, compile financial status updates, and facilitate timely financial project closure. Create projects in Quantum, prepare budget revisions, and monitor transactions for accuracy. Monitor and ensure quality assurance of responsible parties' financial management by reviewing financial documents, conducting capacity assessments, and supporting budget preparation. Review and correct advance requests, liquidation reports, and financial supporting documents, and follow up on timely reporting. Support financial donor reporting by compiling budget utilization and delivery rates. Facilitate knowledge building and sharing by conducting training and disseminating lessons learned and best practices in financial management.
Work Experience
A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in finance is required. Experience with computer office software, spreadsheet, and database packages, and web-based management systems is essential. Experience with an ERP system like Oracle Cloud is desirable. Experience reviewing local implementing partners' financial documents, including advance requests and liquidation reports, is also required. Successful completion of the UN Women Accounting and Finance Test is mandatory.
