Organizational Context
UN Women is the UN entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. The UN Women Guatemala office seeks a consultant to analyze and develop knowledge products that contribute to integrating gender perspective in humanitarian action and the women, peace, and security agenda. This role supports strengthening gender working groups through tools and action plans.
Job Purpose
The consultant will be responsible for gathering and analyzing information to develop knowledge products, recommendations, and tools that consistently advance gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in emergency contexts, risk management, human mobility, and the women, peace, and security agenda. This role aims to identify progress, gaps, and opportunities for improvement in gender mainstreaming within humanitarian action and related fields, contributing to a more equitable and rights-based approach.
Responsibilities
The consultant will collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative information, technical documents, programmatic reports, and normative frameworks to identify advancements and gaps in gender mainstreaming. Key duties include developing knowledge products such as reports, analyses, and technical sheets to support gender equality efforts in emergency and risk management contexts. The role also involves creating tools and documents to guide gender integration in emergencies, risk management, human mobility, and the women, peace, and security agenda. Additionally, the consultant will conduct knowledge transfer processes to relevant sectors on gender, protection centrality, victim rights, and addressing violence against women in conflict and post-conflict settings.
Work Experience
A minimum of 4 years of demonstrable experience in developing initiatives on gender equality and women's empowerment, and protection in humanitarian action is required. Experience in developing knowledge products, research, and/or data collection methodologies is also essential.
Skills
- Excellent writing and synthesis skills in Spanish
- Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative information and develop knowledge products
- Proficiency in methodological tools for systematization, analysis, and information presentation
- Capacity to develop innovative proposals and initiatives related to the role's theme
- Teamwork and inter-institutional coordination skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
