UN Women's office in Ecuador supports the government and civil society in promoting gender equality and women's empowerment. The ICT and Security Assistant role is within the Operations unit, reporting to the Operations Associate under the Chief of ICT. This position is crucial for maintaining ICT systems, providing user support, and ensuring information security within the Country Office.
Job Purpose
The ICT and Security Assistant is responsible for executing ICT services within the UN Women Country Office in Ecuador. This role involves implementing ICT systems and strategies, providing daily technical support to users, and safeguarding information assets through basic security measures and adherence to corporate standards. The assistant will also manage ICT assets, advise on new technologies to boost productivity, and ensure efficient and reliable service delivery, contributing to the overall operational effectiveness of the office.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting the implementation of ICT strategies, standards, and procedures, and contributing to annual ICT work planning. The role involves assisting in procurement processes, maintaining an updated inventory of ICT assets and licenses, and coordinating with vendors. The ICT and Security Assistant will provide first-level technical support, install, configure, and maintain ICT equipment, and perform basic troubleshooting and repairs. They will also manage operating systems, applications, and updates, and support corporate and cloud-based platforms. Network performance monitoring, troubleshooting, user account management, and implementing backup and recovery procedures are also key duties. Additionally, the role supports the implementation of telecommunication systems, intranet platforms, and ICT support for meetings and events, alongside physical security measures and emergency preparedness.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of experience in network administration, hardware/software use, and telecommunications facilities is required. Experience with Azure (Defender, Portal) is an asset. Familiarity with internal UN Women applications such as GST, SN, and the Portal is also considered beneficial.
Skills
PC/LAN operating systems, Microsoft Windows, corporate ICT security and virus protection systems, PC hardware troubleshooting, video conferencing and telecommunication, database packages, data review and discrepancy identification, business process re-engineering, and communication skills.
