Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to conduct a gendered needs assessment to identify specific health challenges faced by women personnel in the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF). The assessment will inform the development of an action plan to address these identified health needs, ensuring that women's healthcare is adequately met and their lives are equally valued. The findings and subsequent action plan will contribute to improving the overall well-being and support systems for female soldiers within the RSLAF, aligning with the project's goal of enhancing their participation and leadership opportunities.
Responsibilities
The consultant will lead the development of assessment tools and methodologies in consultation with RSLAF medical teams and the Ministry of Health. This includes conducting a comprehensive assessment across all RSLAF units and brigades, followed by a validation process. The consultant will organize a roundtable discussion with key stakeholders to present and discuss the findings and recommendations. A crucial part of the role involves developing a 3-5 year Action Plan with priority interventions and a partnership framework, ensuring stakeholder engagement and feedback are incorporated. The consultant is responsible for providing timely reports, including an inception report, draft assessment report, validation workshop report, roundtable report, and the final validated Action Plan and end-of-assignment report.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in public health, gender equality, or research, including conducting assessments and program implementation. Experience in gender analysis within institutional settings, stakeholder engagement, and developing evidence-based recommendations is essential. Experience with government institutions or security sector actors is highly desirable.
