Organizational Context
UN Women's Fiji Multi-Country Office covers 14 countries in the Pacific, including Kiribati. This role supports programmes focused on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) and Women's Economic Empowerment through the Markets for Change (M4C) project, addressing high rates of violence and promoting gender equality.
Job Purpose
The Programme Associate provides crucial administrative, logistical, and programmatic support to UN Women's EVAWG and M4C programmes in Kiribati. Reporting to programme coordinators, the role facilitates effective programme development, implementation, and management. This includes supporting work plan and budget preparation, financial management, procurement processes, and knowledge building activities, ensuring alignment with UN Women's rules and regulations.
Responsibilities
The Programme Associate is responsible for providing advanced administrative and logistical support for programme formulation and management, including preparing work plans, budgets, and proposals. They will coordinate audit information, develop standard operating procedures, and provide secretariat services for meetings. Financial management support involves project creation in Quantum, budget monitoring, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with expenditure controls. The role also oversees logistical and financial arrangements for meetings, workshops, and missions, manages travel, prepares briefing materials, and leads procurement planning and execution. Additionally, the associate supports resource mobilization efforts and facilitates knowledge building and sharing activities.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in administration or programme management/support is required. Experience with computer software packages, financial management systems (like Oracle/Quantum), and supporting teams is essential. Previous UN system experience and familiarity with Pacific countries are desirable.
