Job Purpose
This International Communications Consultant role supports UN Women's Governance, Peace and Security (GPS) portfolio in the Asia-Pacific region. The purpose is to enhance the visibility and impact of UN Women's work on women's leadership, political participation, and peace and security initiatives. The consultant will develop and implement strategic communications, manage knowledge and results communication, engage with media, lead digital communications and campaigns, and support strategic partnerships to advance gender equality and sustainable peace.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a communications and advocacy strategy for the GPS portfolio, positioning UN Women as a thought leader on Women, Peace and Security (WPS), women's political participation, and related issues. Translate complex programme results into compelling communications products, including stories of change, case studies, and multimedia content. Document lessons learned and support reporting. Manage media relations, draft press releases, and monitor media coverage. Lead digital communications and campaigns across platforms, producing content like videos and infographics. Support donor visibility and coordinate communications with partners and UN entities.
Work Experience
Requires at least 7 years of professional experience in media, public relations, communications, or advocacy, with a minimum of 3 years in UN entities or international organizations. Proven experience in social media management, developing communications strategies, and working on governance, WPS, or GEWE issues is necessary. Experience in Asia or the Pacific is desirable.
