Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to provide expert technical support to UN Women's Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, as well as Multi-Country and Country Offices. The consultant will contribute to advancing gender-responsive humanitarian action, disaster risk reduction, and localization efforts. The role involves supporting program design, implementation, monitoring, coordination with humanitarian actors and stakeholders, research, data analysis, and capacity development initiatives to enhance gender equality and women's empowerment in humanitarian settings across the region.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support for the design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of gender-responsive humanitarian action, disaster risk reduction, preparedness, response, recovery, resilience-building, and localization initiatives. Contribute to developing programme documents, concept notes, and technical guidance. Support UN Women's engagement in regional humanitarian coordination platforms, UN system mechanisms, and inter-agency processes. Facilitate coordination with governments, humanitarian actors, women-led organizations, and other stakeholders. Conduct research and analysis to identify gender-specific needs and trends in humanitarian contexts, supporting the design of Rapid Gender Analyses and other assessments. Develop training materials and knowledge products on Gender in Humanitarian Action, disaster risk reduction, and localization. Facilitate capacity-building activities and support information management for evidence-based decision-making.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in humanitarian action, disaster risk reduction, resilience-building, or related fields, with a focus on integrating gender equality and women's empowerment. Technical experience in areas such as Gender in Humanitarian Action (GiHA), localization, or humanitarian preparedness is required. Experience in programme design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and report writing is desirable.
