Job Purpose
The Driver is responsible for providing reliable and safe transportation services to UN Women's Country Director/Head of Office, other high-ranking officials, visitors, and programme/operations staff in Ankara. This role ensures the secure and efficient movement of personnel and documents, including airport pick-ups and deliveries to various offices. The Driver must maintain the highest standards of discretion, integrity, and responsibility, demonstrating excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. The position also involves contributing to cost-saving and environmental sustainability through responsible driving practices and ensuring the vehicle is always in good working condition.
Responsibilities
The Driver will provide secure and reliable driving services for UN Women officials, visitors, and staff, including VIP missions and airport transfers. This includes delivering and collecting mail and documents to various government offices, embassies, and UN locations. The role requires maintaining daily vehicle logs, monitoring mileage, fuel consumption, and servicing schedules, and ensuring the vehicle is kept clean and in good working order, performing minor repairs as needed. The Driver is also responsible for ensuring all required vehicle documents and supplies are available and up-to-date, and for adhering to all relevant UN Women policies, including vehicle management and security standards. Additionally, the Driver may provide general administrative and logistic support, such as assisting with filing, photocopying, mailing, and supporting conferences and events.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a driver is required, preferably within an internationally recognized company, organization, embassy, consulate, or the UN system, with a proven safe driving record. Skills in minor vehicle repairs are desirable, as is good knowledge of office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.).
