Job Purpose
The Finance Associate is responsible for executing a wide range of financial services and administrative processes within the UN Women South Africa Country Office (SACO). This role ensures the timely, efficient, and transparent use of financial resources, adhering strictly to organizational financial rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. The position promotes a client-oriented approach and collaborates closely with the Operations Team and UN Women HQ to resolve complex finance-related issues and facilitate information delivery, contributing to the effective implementation of UN Women's mandate.
Responsibilities
The Finance Associate implements financial strategies and adapts processes in compliance with UN Women's rules and regulations, including IPSAS. Key duties involve reviewing and verifying financial transactions, monitoring exceptions, and reporting anomalies. The role includes collecting and presenting data for financial planning, work plans, and budgets. The Associate prepares and administers CO budgets, controls allotments, monitors expenditures, and manages cost recovery. Responsibilities also encompass creating projects in Quantum, preparing budget revisions, and maintaining expenditure control systems. Furthermore, the role provides essential finance support to Programme and Operations teams, reviewing accounts receivables, preparing vouchers, and monitoring project transactions. This includes managing advances to implementing partners, ensuring timely financial project closure, and supporting financial donor reporting. The Associate also provides administrative support to resource mobilization efforts and facilitates knowledge building and sharing in financial management.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in finance is required. Experience with computer office software packages (MS Word, Excel), spreadsheet and database packages, and web-based management systems is essential. Experience with a modern web-based ERP System, such as Oracle Cloud, is desirable.
