Job Purpose
The Programme Specialist, Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) will lead the planning, implementation, and management of UN Women Ukraine's WEE interventions. This role is crucial for advancing women's economic empowerment by promoting their access to labor markets, supporting women entrepreneurs, and dismantling structural gendered barriers. The specialist will work to ensure women have income security, decent work, and economic autonomy, contributing to Ukraine's EU-related reform agenda and gender equality standards.
Responsibilities
The Programme Specialist will design and develop WEE programme strategies, including formulating project proposals and drafting country strategy documents. They will manage the implementation of WEE programmes, finalize workplans and budgets, and oversee technical implementation and partner reporting. The role involves providing technical assistance and capacity development to partners, building relationships with national stakeholders, and coordinating training initiatives. Monitoring and reporting on programme implementation and finances, including writing quarterly and donor reports, is essential. The specialist will also manage programme budget, supervise staff, and conduct performance assessments. Additionally, they will build partnerships, support resource mobilization strategies, contribute to inter-agency coordination, and manage advocacy, knowledge building, and communication efforts.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience at the national or international level in designing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating development projects is required. Technical experience in women's economic empowerment is essential. Proficiency in computer and office software packages, and experience with web-based management systems are necessary. Experience coordinating with government agencies and donors, and within the UN system, is desirable.
