Job Purpose
This role supports the implementation of key activities related to Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) and Humanitarian Action (HA) within UN Women Kenya Country Office. The consultant will work closely with the WPS, HA, and DRR team, collaborating with regional and global offices. The purpose is to design and develop programme strategies, manage programme implementation, provide technical assistance, monitor progress, build partnerships, and contribute to inter-agency coordination and knowledge management in these critical areas.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include designing and formulating programme/project proposals and initiatives related to WPS and Humanitarian Action. The consultant will manage the implementation of the WPSHA programme, including annual workplans, budgets, and technical execution, ensuring synergies with other teams. This involves managing partner reports, providing guidance on Results Based Management, and organizing review meetings. The role also entails managing technical assistance and capacity development for partners, building relationships, and identifying capacity needs. Monitoring programme implementation and finances, overseeing field missions, and writing reports are crucial. Additionally, the consultant will manage programme resources, develop partnerships and resource mobilization strategies, and contribute to inter-agency coordination on WPSHA. Advocacy, knowledge building, and communication efforts, including developing strategies and representing UN Women, are also key duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years' experience in programme/project implementation, coordination, monitoring, evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building is required. Technical experience in social inclusion in humanitarian action and women, peace, and security is essential. Proven experience in managing projects and teams in complex contexts with multiple stakeholders is necessary. Experience with gender equality, women's rights, and civil society organizations in Kenya is required. Experience within the UN System is an asset. A project/programme management certification is desirable.
