Organizational Context
UN Women in Cuba is implementing the #CerrandoBrechasGénero project, focusing on digital inclusion for women's economic empowerment in the non-state sector. This initiative addresses persistent gender gaps in economic participation and digital skills, particularly within the growing MSME and cooperative landscape. The project aims to strengthen women's technical, business, and digital capacities, promote inclusive policies, and foster a supportive environment for women entrepreneurs, especially in ICT-related fields.
Job Purpose
The Project Coordinator will lead the comprehensive implementation of the "Digital Inclusion for Women's Economic Empowerment in the Non-State Sector" project in Cuba. This role is crucial for ensuring programmatic and operational quality, adherence to UN Women standards, and progress towards results-based management goals. The coordinator will foster effective articulation with project governance, implementing partners, and local authorities, ensuring an intersectional and Leave No One Behind approach. The purpose is to drive the project's success in closing gender gaps in digital inclusion and economic participation for women, contributing to Cuba's development agenda and UN Women's strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
The Project Coordinator is responsible for the programmatic and results-based management of the project, including planning, execution, and monitoring, ensuring integration of gender equality, LNOB, and intersectionality. This involves developing and validating work plans, monitoring progress, and managing deviations. The role includes coordinating monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting, ensuring data quality and timely submission of reports. The coordinator will support project governance, including the Steering Committee and Coordination Committee, and maintain effective liaison with local authorities and partners. They will also identify capacity-building needs, promote partnerships, manage risks, ensure institutional safeguards, and oversee operational and financial planning. Additionally, the coordinator will lead the project's communication plan, support resource mobilization, and manage the project team, ensuring a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, preferably within the UN system or a similar international organization. Experience in gender equality, women's economic empowerment, digital inclusion, or related fields is highly desirable. Experience in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and in Cuba or the Latin America and Caribbean region is an asset.
