Organizational Context
UN Women in Cuba is implementing the #CerrandoBrechasGénero project, focusing on digital inclusion for the economic empowerment of women in the non-state sector. The project addresses persistent gender gaps in economic participation and digital skills, particularly for women in non-agricultural SMEs and the tech sector. It aims to strengthen women's technical, business, and digital capacities, promote inclusive policies, and dismantle gender stereotypes, contributing to Cuba's UNSDCF and UN Women's strategic plan.
Job Purpose
The Project Technical Assistant will provide technical support for the "Digital Inclusion for Women's Economic Empowerment in the Non-State Sector" project in Cuba. This role ensures stakeholders receive up-to-date information on activities, objectives, and agreements with donors, UN Women, and the Cuban government. Working under the Project Coordinator, the assistant will focus on service, quality, and results, collaborating closely with the project team and UN Women's coordination and strategic planning units to ensure high-level service delivery and project implementation aligned with UN Women's mandate and national regulations.
Responsibilities
The Project Technical Assistant will contribute to the implementation of the "Digital Inclusion for Women's Economic Empowerment in the Non-State Sector" project in Cuba. Key responsibilities include programmatic implementation and monitoring, ensuring RBM, LNOB, and intersectionality approaches are applied, and supporting data collection and quality. The role involves producing technical inputs and reports for donors and internal use, maintaining updated progress information, and systematizing lessons learned. Additionally, the assistant will support the application of safeguards, digital security, and data protection for project participants. They will provide technical assistance and accompaniment to women's organizations, participate in coordination meetings, and foster synergies within the UN system in Cuba. Support will also be provided for identifying funding opportunities, contributing to the project's communication plan, and ensuring compliance with UN Women's institutional guidelines and policies.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of experience in project management related to gender equality and mainstreaming is required. If only holding secondary education, 3 additional years of experience are needed. At least one year of experience in program and project monitoring and follow-up, as well as technical document drafting and analysis, is necessary. Experience with the UN system or international cooperation agencies is desirable, as is demonstrable experience in gender equality and women's empowerment in Cuba. Proficiency in computer use and office software is required.
