Job Purpose
The Driver and Protocol Clerk provides essential support to the UN Women Special Representative to the AU and UNECA, ensuring safe and reliable transportation for officials, visitors, and personnel. This role is crucial for the smooth operation of the Liaison Office, facilitating high-level engagement and daily activities. The position also involves performing standard protocol and administrative tasks, demonstrating a client-oriented approach and maintaining confidentiality and tact in interactions with diverse individuals.
Responsibilities
Provide reliable and secure driving services for the Special Representative, officials, and visitors, including airport meet-and-greets and document delivery. Maintain the assigned vehicle through daily checks, cleaning, and minor repairs, ensuring it is in safe running condition and compliant with security standards. Accurately record all vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and maintenance in logbooks and reports, ensuring cost-saving practices. Manage and maintain all required vehicle documents, including insurance and registration, flagging renewals in advance. Provide logistical support for protocol-related arrangements, assist in preparing correspondence, and ensure timely processing of diplomatic identity cards, driving licenses, and vehicle registrations with host country authorities.
Work Experience
Requires at least 3 years of relevant experience as a driver with an international organization, embassy, or UN system, demonstrating a safe driving record. Experience in administrative, logistical, and protocol support services is essential. Proven experience in maintaining accurate vehicle and fuel logs, along with basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, email), is also required.
