Organizational Context
UN Women South Sudan's Economic Empowerment section focuses on eliminating discrimination against women and girls, empowering women, and achieving gender equality. The unit addresses significant barriers women face in economic participation, particularly in accessing financial services, assets, and markets. It works to enhance economic resilience and sustainable livelihoods for women and youth, especially those affected by conflict and displacement, by strengthening the enabling environment for women-led enterprises and expanding access to gender-responsive financial and business development services.
Job Purpose
The Programme Analyst, Enterprise Development & Financial Inclusion, provides technical leadership to advance UN Women South Sudan's initiatives in gender-responsive financial inclusion and entrepreneurship development for Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) and women's collectives. The role supports the delivery of interventions aimed at improving women's access to finance and business development services, fostering economic empowerment, and enhancing livelihoods, particularly for conflict-affected populations. The incumbent collaborates with various stakeholders to ensure successful programme implementation and contributes to achieving UN Women's mandate for gender equality and women's economic empowerment.
Responsibilities
The Programme Analyst is responsible for contributing technical inputs to programme strategies and approaches for gender-responsive financial inclusion and entrepreneurship development. This includes developing concept notes, project proposals, and workplans, and supporting research and data analysis on women's entrepreneurship and financial inclusion. The role involves providing substantive technical and operational support for programme implementation, coordinating activities, liaising with implementing partners, and managing calls for proposals. Additionally, the analyst provides technical assistance and capacity development to partners and beneficiaries, supports monitoring and reporting of programme progress and results, and assists in financial and administrative management. The position also contributes to building partnerships, resource mobilization, inter-agency coordination, and advocacy efforts.
Work Experience
Requires at least 2 years of progressive experience in development programme/project implementation, coordination, monitoring, evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building. Experience in gender-responsive financial inclusion and entrepreneurship development programmes is desirable, as is experience in results-based management and coordinating with national/sub-national government partners, UN agencies, financial institutions, private sector, and donors.
