Job Purpose

This consultancy aims to provide essential simultaneous interpretation and written translation services between Tetum/Bahasa Indonesia and/or Portuguese and English. The role supports UN Women Timor-Leste's operations by ensuring effective communication during events and for official documentation. The consultant will facilitate clear and accurate exchange of information, contributing to the successful implementation of UN Women's mandate and projects within the country.

Responsibilities

The National Consultant will undertake content translation from Tetum/Bahasa Indonesia and/or Portuguese to English, and vice versa, ensuring timely submission of high-quality final translations. The consultant will also provide simultaneous interpretation services during UN Women or partner events, facilitating communication between English and Tetum/Bahasa Indonesia and/or Portuguese. Key duties include delivering fluent and easily understandable interpretation and ensuring all translated content is accurate and submitted promptly, as required by the Country Representative and National Programme Officers.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of experience in translation and interpretation is required. Proven experience working with government institutions and the United Nations is advantageous. Excellent spoken and written communication skills in Tetum/Bahasa Indonesia/Portuguese and English are essential.
