Organizational Context
UN Women in Guatemala, as part of the regional Ellas+ Multipaís project, aims to strengthen women's political participation and promote inclusive public agendas. The project addresses deep structural inequalities, particularly affecting indigenous women, who face poverty, exclusion, and limited access to opportunities. This consultancy supports efforts to enhance women's political leadership, cultural relevance, and policy advocacy.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to design, implement, and monitor a specialized mentoring process for women leaders, especially indigenous women, at territorial and institutional levels. The purpose is to strengthen their capacities in political incidence, public administration, and territorial management. By incorporating gender, indigenous women's rights, intersectional, and intercultural approaches, the role will promote their effective participation in decision-making spaces and contribute to building a more egalitarian and inclusive democracy.
Responsibilities
The consultant will design a validated mentoring methodology integrating modules on public administration, strategic planning, and political incidence, with a focus on gender, indigenous women, intersectionality, and interculturality. They will implement primarily in-person mentoring processes, developing practical skills in public administration and public information systems. The role involves strengthening territorial planning and incidence capacities by formulating at least one gender-sensitive advocacy initiative per group or territory. Personalized technical support will be provided, along with progress reports documenting results, lessons learned, and recommendations. The consultant will also systematize the mentoring methodology for potential replication.
Work Experience
Significant experience is required in designing and implementing mentoring processes, particularly for women leaders and indigenous women. Proven ability to develop practical skills in public administration, strategic planning, and territorial advocacy is necessary. Experience in facilitating diverse groups and working within a UN or similar organizational context is desirable.
