This role supports the Head of Sub Offices by providing essential administrative and logistical support, ensuring the smooth operation of sub-office activities.
Job Purpose
The Driver is responsible for providing reliable and safe transportation services for UN Women personnel, officials, and visitors within Afghanistan. This role ensures the secure and efficient movement of staff and the timely delivery of documents and mail. The Driver plays a crucial part in supporting the operational activities of UN Women's sub-offices, contributing to the organization's mission by facilitating access to program areas and maintaining essential logistical functions.
Responsibilities
Provide reliable and secure driving services for authorized personnel, including government and UN officials. Deliver and collect mail, documents, and other items to various offices and establishments. Meet and assist official personnel and visitors at the airport, including visa and customs arrangements when needed. Ensure passenger safety by enforcing seatbelt usage and adherence to traffic rules. Maintain the assigned vehicle through daily checks, cleaning, and arranging for necessary repairs, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Accurately record vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities in logbooks and reports. Maintain all required vehicle documents, including insurance and registration, ensuring they are current. Provide administrative support such as filing, photocopying, and assisting with mail distribution.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant experience as a driver, preferably within an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven safe driving record. Experience in administrative and logistical support is desirable. Demonstrated experience in maintaining accurate vehicle and fuel logs is required. Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Word and Excel, is also necessary.
