Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to provide strategic guidance and advice on engaging adolescent constituencies and ensuring the meaningful participation of young women and girls in intergovernmental processes. The role supports the technical implementation of youth programs, fosters synergies with other teams, and contributes to the development of knowledge products. It also facilitates outreach meetings with girl-led groups, ensures adolescent agendas are reflected in strategic plans and proposals, and supports the strengthening of networks among young people. The consultant will contribute to reports, advocacy, and resource mobilization efforts for youth and adolescent work, aligning with UN Women's mandate for gender equality and women's empowerment.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic guidance and advice on outreach to adolescent constituencies. Support the technical implementation of youth programs, ensuring synergies with other teams and developing knowledge products. Contribute to strategies for integrated participation of young people in multistakeholder and intergovernmental processes. Facilitate preparatory meetings and outreach activities with girl-led groups. Ensure adolescent agendas are reflected in UN Women's strategic notes, plans, and resource mobilization proposals. Support the strengthening of networks and knowledge sharing among young people. Contribute to the development of briefing notes and the youth and adolescent safeguarding policy. Support the development of knowledge products on adolescent engagement, monitor youth activities, and assist in reporting on results and outcomes. Aid in advocacy and resource mobilization for youth and adolescent work, analyze donor databases, and provide data for project documents and proposal writing.
Work Experience
Requires at least two years of research and civil society engagement, with a focus on young people. Understanding of gender equality, women's empowerment, and child protection issues is necessary. Familiarity with youth and girl-led organizations and international institutions is beneficial. Experience within the UN system is an asset.
Skills
Strong knowledge of gender equality and women's rights issues. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with partners, especially women's rights, girl, and youth organizations. Proven networking and mobilization skills. Excellent IT skills, including databases and office software. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
