Organizational Context
UN Women's UN System Coordination Division (UNSCD) leads and supports the organization's coordination mandate across the UN system. It aims to ensure gender equality and women's empowerment are central to UN policies and programs, amplifying impact and efficiency. The division provides technical guidance, tools, and data to country and regional offices, UNCTs, and agencies to align efforts with gender equality priorities.
Job Purpose
The Coordination Intern will support the general management and coordination of the UN System Coordination Division (UNSCD) under the supervision of the Deputy Director. The role involves providing technical and operational support to strategic planning, corporate coordination processes, and UN system-wide coordination efforts. This includes assisting in the development of work plans, strategic notes, and integration of gender equality priorities into UN processes. The intern will also support inter-agency coordination, organize meetings, and contribute to advocacy and communications efforts, gaining valuable experience in UN coordination and gender equality frameworks.
Responsibilities
Provide technical and operational support for strategic planning and corporate coordination processes, including developing and monitoring work plans, results frameworks, and strategic planning documents. Contribute to preparing strategic notes and internal planning documents for senior management. Support the integration of gender equality and women's empowerment priorities into UN system-wide processes and inter-agency frameworks. Assist in preparing briefing notes and presentations for leadership engagements and inter-agency meetings. Offer technical and operational support for UN system and inter-agency coordination, including maintaining information on coordination mechanisms and assisting with follow-up on UNSCD activities. Provide substantive and logistical support for organizing high-level inter-agency meetings and events, and technical support to the Gender Equality Acceleration Plan (GEAP). Support UNSCD's engagement with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen system-wide gender equality coordination, assist in organizing and documenting coordination meetings, and support internal coordination across UN Women divisions.
