Job Purpose
This internship supports UN Women's work on women's political participation, specifically within the Leadership and Decision-Making Section. The intern will assist with legislative reviews, literature reviews, and data monitoring related to women's representation in local government, executive positions, electoral processes, and suffrage. The role aims to contribute to UN Women's efforts in promoting gender-responsive governance and achieving SDG indicators related to women's participation in public life.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the monitoring and review of legislative changes concerning government systems, electoral systems, quotas, and local government organizations. Key duties include compiling data on women's political participation, mapping data from Electoral Management Bodies, and conducting literature reviews on topics such as women's suffrage. The intern will also assist with other activities within the women's political participation area, including the organization of meetings.

Skills
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English. Working knowledge of another UN language is an advantage. Awareness and sensitivity regarding gender issues, accountability, creative problem-solving, effective communication, inclusive collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and leading by example are desirable.
