Organizational Context

UN Women Ukraine supports the Government and civil society in advancing gender equality and implementing national and international commitments, including the Women, Peace and Security Agenda. The role supports the "She Leads Ukraine" initiative, focusing on women's leadership and decision-making, particularly in the context of recovery and reconstruction post-invasion. The initiative aims to increase women's political participation and representation.

Job Purpose

This consultancy aims to provide expert and advisory support for the development of a community of trained women leaders, ensuring their enhanced participation and representation in all spheres of public life in Ukraine. The role contributes to UN Women's strategic objective of strengthening women's leadership and decision-making capacities, fostering greater parity in political representation, and empowering diverse women's rights organizations. By facilitating networking, upskilling, and experience exchange among women leaders, the consultant will play a key role in driving transformative change and ensuring a gender-transformative approach to Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction.

Responsibilities

The National Consultant will provide expert and advisory support for the development of a community of trained women leaders. Key responsibilities include maintaining and advising on the strategic approach for the community platform, administering it, and identifying learning needs. The consultant will contribute to increasing the visibility of women leaders and their initiatives through social media and communication channels, collecting success stories, and strengthening partnerships. Additionally, the role involves providing expert support for women's political participation activities, organizing and facilitating events, coordinating communication, and contributing to training materials. The consultant will also provide analytical support, monitor community development progress, collect feedback, and prepare regular reports on activities and outcomes.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of progressive professional experience in gender equality and women's empowerment is required. Proven experience in coordinating partnerships on gender equality and women's leadership, and in preparing policy papers on these topics, is essential. Knowledge of the Ukrainian context on gender equality and women's political participation is a strong asset. Previous experience with development agencies or the UN, particularly UN Women, is desirable.
