UN Women in Tunisia focuses on Governance and Women’s Political Participation, Women’s Economic Empowerment, and Women's Peace and Security. The office works with government, civil society, and parliament to mainstream gender in public policies and strategies. The Communications Analyst supports both Tunisia and Libya offices, reporting to the Country Representative, to enhance UN Women's visibility and public awareness through strategic communications and advocacy.
Job Purpose
The Communications Analyst supports the planning and implementation of communication and advocacy strategies for UN Women's Tunisia and Libya offices. This role aims to increase the standing and awareness of UN Women among partners, media, and the public. The analyst will develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies, coordinate online campaigns and advocacy events, and build relationships with media and communication partners. The position involves creating engaging content for various channels to promote gender equality initiatives and UN Women's work, working collaboratively with program teams, regional and HQ staff, government officials, donors, and civil society.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include planning and designing communication and outreach strategies, conducting needs assessments, and integrating communication into project proposals. The role involves monitoring media, coordinating campaigns and events, and providing guidance on advocacy efforts. The Communications Analyst will develop and disseminate advocacy materials, produce press releases, newsletters, and articles, and manage their distribution. Media relations coordination includes managing press relationships, responding to inquiries, and organizing press events. Building partnerships with civil society, governments, and donors is crucial. The role also involves maintaining the online presence of the Tunisia and Libya Cluster offices, managing website content and social media accounts, and facilitating knowledge building and sharing through best practices and training.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in public relations, communications, or advocacy at the national or international level is required. Experience in media relations and social media outreach is desirable. Proficiency in computer software packages (MS Word, Excel), spreadsheet and database management, and web-based management systems is necessary. Experience with Oracle Cloud is desirable.
