UN Women's Regional Office for Arab States (ROAS) promotes gender equality and women's empowerment across 17 countries. The office leads the UN System-Wide Gender Equality Acceleration Plan, focusing on strategy, accountability, and resource mobilization to accelerate SDG 5. This role supports strengthening the UN system's capacity to mainstream gender equality in operations, particularly concerning climate change and the environment.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to strengthen the capacity of UN system personnel in the Arab States region to mainstream gender equality and women's empowerment in climate change and environmental initiatives. The consultant will design and deliver online training sessions and a reflection session, followed by a summary report. The objective is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to integrate gender perspectives into UN operations, contributing to the UN System-Wide Gender Equality Acceleration Plan and the achievement of SDG 5.
Responsibilities
Design and deliver online training on gender mainstreaming, informed by UN Women guidance and best practices from agencies like UNEP, FAO, and WFP. This includes preparing agendas, materials, and presentations, and integrating case studies linked to the UN System-Wide Gender Equality Acceleration Platform. The training will be conducted in two workstreams, each comprising nine hours of contact time for UN Women and other agency personnel. Facilitate a one-hour online reflection session for participants to discuss learnings and application of new skills in development and implementation processes. Prepare a concise summary report detailing participants, agenda, key discussions, and reflections, with training materials annexed.
Work Experience
A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in gender mainstreaming is required. Proven experience in designing and delivering training for UN Women and other UN entities is essential. In-depth knowledge of gender mainstreaming processes, frameworks, and challenges within the UN System is also required.

Capacity to engage and influence stakeholders from diverse UN entities; Capacity to apply participatory pedagogies and methodologies; Capacity to guide personnel to conduct analysis of gender mainstreaming gaps in programming and policies.
