Job Purpose
The Communications Associate supports the formulation and implementation of UN Women Rwanda's communications and advocacy strategies to enhance the organization's standing and public awareness. This role is crucial for increasing visibility and engagement with partners, media, and the public. The associate will contribute to strategic communication efforts, support advocacy campaigns, manage social media and website presence, provide media relations support, and facilitate knowledge management and sharing to effectively communicate UN Women's mandate and impact in Rwanda.
Responsibilities
The Communications Associate is responsible for supporting the development and execution of the Country Office's communication and advocacy strategy, including providing substantive inputs and preparing briefing materials. This involves supporting advocacy efforts and campaigns, organizing events, and ensuring adherence to UN Women's communication guidelines. The role includes managing the CO's social media presence and website, developing and reviewing content, and updating digital platforms. Additionally, the associate will provide media relations support, serve as a press focal point, build relationships with local media, and draft talking points. Facilitating knowledge management and sharing through drafting communication products, documenting activities, and contributing to best practice identification is also key. The role involves participating in UN interagency communication initiatives and supporting corporate campaigns.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in supporting the formulation and implementation of communications and advocacy strategies is required. Experience with social media, digital communications, and office software packages (MS Word, Excel) is essential. Experience with web-based management systems is also required. Familiarity with Oracle Cloud ERP systems is desirable.
