UN Women Brazil, as part of the UN system, works on strategic priorities including women's economic empowerment and security. This consultancy supports the "Empowering Women Entrepreneurs and Family Farmers through Bioeconomy in Rondônia" project, a joint initiative with UNIDO and FAO, aiming to strengthen gender-sensitive, sustainable coffee and cocoa value chains in the Amazon region.
Job Purpose
This consultancy provides technical support for the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of the "Empowering Women Entrepreneurs and Family Farmers through Bioeconomy in Rondônia" project within the state of Rondônia. The role focuses on strengthening local capacities for inclusive, gender-sensitive governance in coffee and cocoa value chains, supporting women entrepreneurs and family farmers in sustainable production and business opportunities, and ensuring effective project implementation, monitoring, and reporting. The aim is to enhance women's participation, leadership, and economic autonomy in these key sectors, contributing to sustainable development and gender equality in the region.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support for the implementation of activities focused on strengthening the capacities of state and institutional actors in Rondônia for inclusive, gender-sensitive governance in sustainable coffee and cocoa value chains. This includes mapping partners, incorporating gender perspectives into governance mechanisms, coordinating technical meetings and workshops, and supporting capacity development for partners. Additionally, provide technical support for actions strengthening the capacities of women and family farmers to participate in and benefit from sustainable production and business opportunities. This involves articulating with beneficiaries, supporting civil society organizations with small grants, and facilitating learning processes. The role also entails providing technical support for project implementation, monitoring, and reporting, including inputs for procurement processes, communication with implementing partners, data compilation for reports, and contributing to communication plans and knowledge product development.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of professional or academic experience in gender, race, and ethnicity equality is mandatory. Additionally, at least 2 years of professional experience providing technical support to governments, civil society organizations, or international bodies in project/policy implementation is required. Experience in producing reports, technical documents, and knowledge products is also mandatory (minimum 2 years). Desirable experience includes work related to coffee and cocoa value chains, prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH), and engagement with governments and civil society organizations.
Skills
Understanding of gender and racial equality agenda, excellent analytical and communication skills, good teamwork abilities, and strong interconnection and dialogue with civil society actors.
