The Independent Evaluation Service (IES) within UN Women serves as the custodian of the evaluation function, ensuring accountability and learning. This role supports the Regional Evaluation Specialist for Asia and the Pacific, contributing to regional and global evaluations and the development of gender-responsive evaluation methodologies.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the UN Women Independent Evaluation Service (IES) in its regional and global evaluative work. The intern will contribute to ongoing and upcoming evaluations by assisting with data collection, background research, preliminary data analysis, and stakeholder analysis. The role also involves supporting the maintenance of evaluation databases and knowledge management systems, and assisting in the development of knowledge products related to evaluation. This position offers a learning opportunity to understand evaluation processes, gender equality programs, and the UN system within an international context.
Responsibilities
Assist with preparatory and research work for evaluations, including data collection and background research. Manage the repository of evaluation documents and assist in the analysis of preliminary data and portfolio building. Identify key documents and conduct stakeholder analysis for evaluations. Review inception and draft evaluation reports for data accuracy. Update and maintain the UN Women Evaluation database and knowledge management system, including the GATE system. Assist in developing knowledge and communication products related to evaluation functions. Support gender-responsive evaluation capacity building initiatives. Undertake any other relevant tasks as assigned by the Independent Evaluation Service (IES).
Work Experience
No specific work experience is required for this internship. However, a background in research, data management, or familiarity with monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and results-based management (RBM) activities would be beneficial.
