Job Purpose
The Programme Specialist, Women, Peace, Security, and Humanitarian Action, will lead the planning, implementation, and management of UN Women interventions under a regional program funded by Germany. This role involves collaborating with various UN Women teams, regional stakeholders, donors, and civil society to ensure successful program delivery. The specialist will design and develop program strategies, manage technical assistance and capacity development for partners, oversee monitoring and reporting, manage program resources, build partnerships, and contribute to inter-agency coordination on WPSHA. The position also involves managing advocacy, knowledge building, and communication efforts, and providing support to country offices in the Arab States region.
Responsibilities
The Programme Specialist will be responsible for designing and formulating program/project proposals and initiatives in Women Peace and Security (WPS) and Humanitarian Action (HA). They will manage the implementation of the WPSHA program, including finalizing workplans, budgets, and ensuring technical implementation and synergies with other teams. This includes managing partner reports and providing guidance on Results Based Management. The role involves managing technical assistance and capacity development for partners, building relationships, and identifying capacity needs. Monitoring and reporting on program implementation and finances, including writing quarterly and donor reports, is crucial. The specialist will also manage program people and financial resources, supervise staff, and oversee recruitment. Furthermore, they will develop and implement partnerships and resource mobilization strategies, contribute to inter-agency coordination, manage advocacy and knowledge-building efforts, and provide capacity building and coordination support to country offices in the Arab States region.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible work experience at the national or international level in designing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating development projects is required. Technical experience in Women, Peace and Security, Humanitarian Action, or gender equality is essential. Experience leading and coaching staff in international settings and proficiency with computers and office software packages are also required. Experience coordinating with government agencies and donors, working within the UN System, and in the Arab States region are desirable.
