Job Purpose
The Programme Specialist, Women's Economic Empowerment in Peace and Humanitarian Action, is responsible for the overall planning, implementation, and management of UN Women's interventions within their portfolio. This includes providing strategic support, developing programmes, and ensuring effective implementation in collaboration with various stakeholders. The role aims to achieve measurable results for targeted women by supporting programme design, resource mobilization, and effective project management in line with UN Women's priorities.
Responsibilities
The Programme Specialist will provide advisory services for programme development, focusing on women's economic empowerment in peace and humanitarian contexts. This includes supervising the design and formulation of programme proposals, identifying intervention areas, and finalizing country strategies. The role involves managing programme implementation, including annual work plans and budgets, and ensuring technical coherence. Additionally, the specialist will oversee technical assistance and capacity building for partners, manage monitoring and reporting of activities and finances, and lead resource mobilization efforts by developing partnership strategies and identifying funding opportunities. Coordination with UN agencies, government ministries, NGOs, and donors is also a key responsibility.
Work Experience
At least 5 years of progressive professional experience at the national or international level in designing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating development projects is required. Technical experience in women's economic empowerment within peace and humanitarian action contexts is also necessary. Experience in supervising and mentoring staff in an international environment and proficiency in computer use for office software, databases, and IT systems are essential. Coordination experience with governmental agencies and/or donors is desirable.
