Job Purpose
The Artistic Photographer will provide professional photography services to support UN Women's communications priorities. The role involves capturing high-quality, ethical, and compelling images of women and girls in various settings, including humanitarian and crisis-affected areas. These photographs will document programme activities, field missions, advocacy initiatives, and community interventions. The purpose is to visually represent UN Women's mandate and country-specific priorities, ensuring respectful and rights-based portrayal of subjects, and contributing to effective communication and advocacy efforts.
Responsibilities
The Artistic Photographer will undertake field assignments to capture respectful and rights-based visual representations of women and girls, adhering strictly to UN Women's ethical guidelines, safeguarding principles, and branding standards. Responsibilities include coordinating with communications focal points to understand objectives, delivering edited, publication-ready photographs within agreed timelines and specifications for various platforms, and ensuring final image files are properly captioned and tagged. The role also involves ensuring all visual materials align with UN Women's values and security considerations, especially in sensitive environments. Deliverables include curated sets of high-resolution photographs, images suitable for digital platforms and publications, and potentially pre-existing portfolio images.
Work Experience
Requires at least 7 years of proven experience in documentary or photojournalistic projects, with a focus on human rights, gender equality, or social issues. Demonstrated experience working with international organizations or media outlets is essential. Applicants must provide an online portfolio showcasing relevant professional experience and photographs.
