Organizational Context
The Central Asian Alliance to End Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is a regional platform established in June 2023 under the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative. It unites state and non-state actors from five Central Asian countries to advance coordinated action against GBV. UN Women commissioned a regional research study, "Leaving No One Behind," to examine intersecting forms of discrimination and GBV. The Alliance now seeks a National Consultant to finalize this study for publication.
Job Purpose
This role supports the finalization and publication of the "Leaving No One Behind" research study on gender-based violence and intersecting identities in Central Asia. The National Consultant will provide technical, analytical, and editorial support to ensure the report is a high-quality knowledge product for the Central Asian Alliance to End GBV. The work involves revising and updating the existing English draft, ensuring analytical coherence, editorial quality, and policy relevance, and reviewing the translated Russian version to align with UN Women's standards and facilitate evidence-based advocacy and policy dialogue across the region.
Responsibilities
Conduct a comprehensive technical and analytical review of the research draft, updating relevant sections with the latest data and policy developments. Ensure analytical consistency with intersectionality frameworks and strengthen the link between evidence, analysis, and recommendations. Refine key messages and recommendations for policy relevance and actionable outcomes, differentiating regional and country-specific findings. Edit the report for clarity, structure, and readability, maintaining ethical language and harmonizing terminology and formatting. Ensure compliance with ethical standards and UN Women's Knowledge Management guidelines. Prepare the final publication-ready English version and review the Russian translation for accuracy and consistency.
Work Experience
Requires 5 years of professional experience in human rights, gender equality, or elimination of violence against women. At least 3 years of experience in report writing and editing is necessary. Experience with intersectionality frameworks and marginalized groups is also required. Experience within the UN or international organizations in Central Asia, and familiarity with the region's context, are advantageous.
Skills
Expertise in gender-based violence research, qualitative and intersectional analysis, knowledge of Central Asian GBV context, legislation, and policies, report writing and editing, communication, and adherence to ethical standards.
