Job Purpose
This role manages global technical support for UN Women's Strategic Plan Impact 1, focusing on women's leadership and decision-making. It oversees the implementation of a strategic partnership framework on women's political participation and leads the design of its next phase, ensuring corporate policy coherence. The position involves managing global advocacy initiatives, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, engaging donors, and building partnerships to advance women's equal participation in political institutions and decision-making systems worldwide.
Responsibilities
The Specialist will oversee the Leadership and Decision-Making Section's corporate processes and institutional strengthening, ensuring programme effectiveness through results-based management. This includes managing the SPF3 component on women's political participation, monitoring global technical support for SP Impact Area 1, and overseeing budget management and work plan implementation. The role involves providing technical assistance and advisory services to UN Women regional and country offices for strategy and project development, managing funding mechanisms, and reviewing proposals. Additionally, the Specialist will oversee resource partnerships, donor relations, and resource mobilization efforts, contributing to SPF4 proposals and donor consultations. The role also includes leading UN coordination functions related to electoral assistance and partnerships across the UN System, donors, and civil society.
Work Experience
Requires at least 7 years of relevant international working experience in gender equality and international development, with increasing managerial responsibilities. Experience in designing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating development programmes, particularly on Women's Political Participation, is essential. Experience coordinating with government agencies and donors, and working within the UN System is also required. Team leadership experience is an asset.
