Organizational Context
UN Women in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is implementing Phase II of the Gender Justice Platform, supported by the UK's PSVI. This initiative addresses persistent challenges faced by survivors of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV), focusing on justice, recognition, recovery, economic security, and stigma. The project aims to strengthen survivor resilience, empower survivor associations, and advance accountability and legal implementation related to CRSV.
Job Purpose
This consultancy provides technical leadership, coordination, and implementation support for Phase II of the Gender Justice Platform intervention in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The role ensures high-quality, survivor-centered delivery of programme outputs focused on survivor recovery, resilience, collective agency, economic empowerment of survivor associations, and accountability for CRSV. The consultancy directly contributes to strengthening survivor dignity, agency, and access to justice, while reinforcing institutional trust and accountability mechanisms aligned with the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda.
Responsibilities
The CRSV Specialist will support planning, coordination, and implementation oversight of CRSV activities, developing implementation plans, monitoring progress, and coordinating with responsible parties. Responsibilities include designing and facilitating survivor-centered engagement and recovery interventions, promoting inclusive participation, and contributing to initiatives enhancing survivor visibility and dignity. The role also involves designing and monitoring economic empowerment interventions, facilitating market linkages, and ensuring documentation of results. Additionally, the specialist will coordinate initiatives to strengthen accountability and access to justice, facilitate dialogue with institutional actors, and lead policy and legal framework engagement. Partnership liaison and technical advisory support to survivor associations, CSOs, and institutional stakeholders are key, ensuring survivor-centered, rights-based, and ethically sound implementation.
Work Experience
Requires at least 7 years of progressive experience in coordinating and implementing development or human rights projects in WPS, gender justice, or transitional justice. At least 2 years of experience working with civil society organizations and CRSV survivors in BiH is necessary, along with at least 2 years of experience in designing or facilitating trainings, workshops, or multi-stakeholder events.
