Organizational Context
UN Women's Asia Pacific Regional Office (RO) drives strategic positioning through communication of results and best practices. The role supports the RO in ensuring technical quality of planning, monitoring, and reporting (PMR) documents, strengthening staff capacity, and providing quality assurance for donor reports, aligning with the 2030 Agenda and SDGs.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to enhance the quality and timeliness of UN Women's planning, monitoring, and reporting (PMR) outputs, particularly donor reports, for the Asia Pacific Regional Office. The consultant will provide crucial technical advice and quality assurance, ensuring reports are reader-friendly, results-based, and compliant with donor agreements and UN Women standards. This role directly contributes to effective communication of strategic directions and results, supporting advocacy, resource mobilization, and strengthening partnerships.
Responsibilities
Consolidate and edit planning documents, improving information quality. Review donor, annual, and six-monthly reports for substantive content, consistency with agreements, RBM standards, and UN Women requirements. Liaise with project managers for clarifications, edit, and format reports to high-quality, reader-friendly standards. Provide technical assistance and quality assurance to Country Offices (COs) and National Partner Projects (NPPs) for reporting processes. Prepare feedback and analysis for office improvements and training purposes. Act as a trainer for PMR policy/procedure training, customizing materials. Collect lessons learned in reporting, develop tools, and conduct capacity-building sessions or workshops as needed. Conduct "Tier assessments" by reviewing and analyzing donor reports from Tier 1 COs if requested.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 7 years of high-level experience in reporting and communicating complex programmatic information in English. Proven experience in writing, editing, and reporting within international development is essential. Experience with gender-sensitive, results-based management and reporting, and reporting within the UN system or with development partners is required. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel is necessary. Project management and resource mobilization experience are assets.
