Organizational Context
UN Women Haiti is implementing a project funded by the Government of Japan to strengthen women's leadership and participation in peace, security, and humanitarian response. A key component focuses on engaging men and boys as allies for gender equality and the prevention of gender-based violence (GBV). This consultancy aims to address the current gap in structured, contextualized, and harmonized educational tools for positive masculinity initiatives in Haiti, thereby promoting long-term behavioral change and supporting national and international gender equality priorities.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to develop, validate, and disseminate a comprehensive curriculum on positive masculinity, gender equality, and non-violent communication in Haiti. The purpose is to equip men and boys with the knowledge and tools to become key agents of social change, actively contributing to the prevention of gender-based violence and the promotion of gender equality. By providing harmonized and contextually relevant educational resources, this role will strengthen the capacities of community and institutional actors, foster positive social norms, and support UN Women's strategic approach to engaging men and boys as allies in achieving Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 5, and advancing the Women, Peace, and Security agenda.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for developing a comprehensive curriculum on positive masculinity, gender equality, and non-violent communication, tailored to the Haitian context. This includes conducting a thorough documentary review and multisectoral consultations with institutions, NGOs, communities, and experts. The consultant will organize field consultations and focus groups with young men, community leaders, and women's organizations. A key task is to draft the curriculum and pedagogical guide, followed by organizing departmental validation workshops and integrating feedback to finalize the curriculum. The consultant will also develop a dissemination plan, support community sensitization activities, and assist in structuring networks of engaged men. Additionally, they will support targeted community sessions for young men and elders, provide technical support to the implementing partner for workshops and safe spaces, and ensure the overall coherence and cultural relevance of the training materials, contributing to the prevention of GBV and the promotion of gender equality.
Work Experience
