Organizational Context
UN Women Senegal, part of the West and Central Africa Regional Office, works to advance gender equality and women's empowerment in Senegal. The office focuses on governance, women's leadership, economic empowerment, ending violence against women and girls (EVAW), and women, peace, security, and humanitarian action. It plays a key coordination role in gender mainstreaming within the UN Country Team.
Job Purpose
This internship supports UN Women Senegal's Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAW) team. The intern will assist in identifying and mapping resources for psycho-social support for survivors, developing a database of experts and partners, and identifying existing support tools and protocols. The role involves drafting technical materials, participating in EVAW activities, and providing operational support. The internship aims to enhance the intern's knowledge of stakeholder mapping, UN Women's operational aspects, psycho-social approaches, and research and communication skills within a multicultural setting.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the EVAW team by assisting in the identification and mapping of psychologists, psycho-social workers, institutions, and organizations providing support to survivors in Senegal. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining a database of experts and potential partners, and identifying existing tools, protocols, and practices for psycho-social support services. The intern will also assist in drafting technical sheets, guidance notes, and reference materials related to psycho-social support, and contribute to the development of practical tools. Additionally, the intern will participate in EVAW activities, meetings, and workshops, and provide operational and coordination support for required activities.
Work Experience
Experience in gender studies-related issues is a plus. Knowledge of development issues in Senegal is desirable. Familiarity with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5, is also considered an advantage.
