UN Women is dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. In Morocco, UN Women supports national institutions, government, and civil society in implementing programs that advance gender equality and women's rights. The "Guaranteeing quality, coordinated, and accessible multisectoral services for survivors of violence and women and girls at risk (AAMINA)" project, funded by the Government of Canada, aims to strengthen women's rights and institutional services for survivors of violence, and promote social norms favorable to gender equality.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to develop educational materials and train trainers on gender equality, gender-equitable mindsets, and the prevention of violence against women and girls for camp counselors. The consultant will design age-appropriate pedagogical tools for children aged 7-10 and develop training modules for adolescents aged 10-16. A key objective is to equip camp counselors with quality pedagogical tools and participatory animation techniques to effectively deliver these sessions, fostering a shift in social norms among young beneficiaries. The consultant will report to the Head of the Ending Violence Against Women Unit.
Responsibilities
The consultant will conduct a documentary review of existing tools from UN agencies, NGOs, and Moroccan institutions. They will propose a coherent pedagogical architecture for different age groups, ensuring content accessibility through simple language and visual aids. The consultant will develop a comprehensive pedagogical kit in Arabic and Darija, including a detailed program, facilitator's guide, presentation materials, illustrative videos, practical exercises, and evaluation tools. This kit will feature animation supports for children (7-10 years) using play, drawing, storytelling, and group activities, and structured training modules for adolescents (10-16 years) focusing on critical thinking and role-playing. Additionally, the consultant will facilitate a 3-day in-person training of trainers for camp counselors in Rabat, enabling them to master thematic content, participatory animation techniques, manage sensitive situations, adapt tools, and adopt a professional and benevolent posture on gender equality issues.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing curricula, pedagogical tools, or non-formal education programs for children and/or youth is required. Experience in gender equality, combating violence against women and girls, or women's/human rights is also necessary. Experience in similar contexts such as summer camps, youth centers, or women's rights associations is an asset.
Skills
Pedagogical and socio-cultural animation skills, curriculum design for different age groups, participatory approaches and non-formal education methods, animation, facilitation, and communication skills, ability to translate gender equality concepts into accessible language for children and youth, knowledge of the Moroccan context regarding gender equality.
