Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to provide technical support to UN Women's Leadership of Women in Decision-Making in Political and Public Life section for the Americas and the Caribbean. The role will focus on developing regional products and tools to enhance the work of UN Women country offices. It will guide advocacy and technical assistance efforts towards norms and policies that promote substantive parity and comprehensively address violence against women in political and public life, contributing to the strategic plan and effective program outcomes in the region.
Responsibilities
The consultant will provide substantive technical contributions to the development of a regional model for specialized mechanisms to address violence against women in politics (VAWP), including contextualized technical documents and operational recommendations. Responsibilities include identifying and systematizing successful territorial initiatives to strengthen women's leadership in decision-making, analyzing best practices, and developing strategic inputs for UN Women's programmatic advocacy. The role also involves strengthening regional knowledge management on women's leadership through knowledge products and supporting the strategic dissemination of learnings. Additionally, the consultant will provide technical and analytical support for the effective implementation of the regional portfolio, assisting with internal and external reports, providing thematic input for regional documents, and contributing to program documents and country office proposals.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in gender equality, women's political participation, or related fields is required. Experience in developing technical tools, conducting research and analysis, and supporting program implementation in Latin America and the Caribbean is highly desirable. Experience with UN Women or other UN agencies is an asset.
