Job Purpose
This consultancy supports the "Progress of the World’s Women 2026" report by conducting advanced quantitative analysis on environmental, economic, labour, and financing datasets related to gender and climate change. The role involves designing statistical models, analyzing complex datasets, and synthesizing findings into accessible formats for non-technical audiences. The consultant will also contribute substantive research and analysis to report chapters, ensuring rigorous grounding and clear argumentation, and will collaborate on developing high-impact communication assets.
Responsibilities
Conduct advanced quantitative analysis using environmental, economic, labour, and financing datasets; design and execute statistical modelling on gender and climate change; analyze and synthesize datasets on green jobs, climate finance, and environmental degradation; prepare statistical annexes with technical notes and methodological references; translate complex data into accessible formats using strong data visualization and narrative framing; craft text for high-impact communications assets like data cards and social media content; spearhead background research and literature reviews on gender and climate change; author and refine analytical inputs for report chapters; conduct technical reviews of draft chapters, scrutinizing data and analytical claims; and collaborate with the Research and Data team on report-related assets.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of work experience in gender statistics at the national/international level, focusing on climate change. Experience with household survey data analysis, drafting statistics-based reports, and preparing data visualization products is required. Experience in capacity building and using non-conventional data sources or supporting policymakers with data use is an asset.
Skills
Strong analytical skills (statistical modelling, scenario analysis); Proficiency in STATA, R, Python or similar; Clear and effective communication; Familiarity with international gender statistics methodologies; Data visualization skills; Ability to implement activities efficiently; Strong teamwork; Affinity with UN Women’s mandate.
