Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the UN Women's Women's Economic Empowerment Unit, with a primary focus on the 2026 Asia-Pacific WEPs Awards. The intern will contribute to the Gender Action Lab's broader program activities, assisting in the organization and execution of events and communications. The role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in gender equality initiatives, private sector engagement, and event management within a UN system context, contributing to the advancement of women's economic empowerment in the region.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the review and due diligence of applications for the 2026 Asia-Pacific WEPs Awards. Responsibilities include assisting with event logistics for the Regional Ceremony, such as drafting invitations, coordinating with event agencies, and notifying awardees. The role also involves contributing to communications activities, including drafting newsletters, impact stories, and social media content using Canva. The intern will help document key highlights and success stories, develop presentation materials, and compile information from workshops and meetings. Additionally, the intern will liaise with country teams, provide technical guidance for award application reviews, and support the overall planning and implementation of GAL activities.
Work Experience
No specific work experience is required for this internship. However, a proactive and driven attitude is expected. Experience with event coordination, communications, or research in gender equality or economic development would be beneficial.
Skills
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English. Proficiency in Canva for digital design is an asset. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Research, writing, and critical analysis skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
