Organizational Context

UN Women Fiji Multi-Country Office, based in Suva, works across 14 countries in the region. The Markets for Change (M4C) Project, implemented with UNDP and the Australian Government, focuses on women market vendors' economic empowerment in Fiji, Samoa, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu. This role supports national project management and implementation.

Job Purpose

The Senior Project Officer will support the Markets for Change (M4C) project in Fiji, focusing on gender equality and women's economic empowerment. Reporting to the M4C National Project Coordinator, the role involves managing and implementing project activities, fostering partnerships, and contributing to monitoring, reporting, and knowledge building. The position aims to advance UN Women's strategic objectives in women's economic empowerment within the MCO's operational region.

Responsibilities

The Senior Project Officer will support the development and implementation of programme strategies for the Markets for Change (M4C) Fiji project, providing substantive inputs to proposals and identifying intervention areas. Responsibilities include managing project implementation, supporting annual workplans and budgets, monitoring partner reports, and providing technical assistance and capacity development to partners. The role involves coordinating programme activities, maintaining national partner relationships, and supporting data collection and analysis. Additionally, the officer will contribute to monitoring and reporting on project progress and finances, manage project staff, and support partnership building and resource mobilization efforts. Inter-agency coordination and contributing to advocacy, knowledge building, and communication are also key duties.

Work Experience

Requires at least 2 years of experience (with Master's) or 4 years (with Bachelor's) in project formulation, implementation, coordination, monitoring, evaluation, and donor reporting. Experience in women's economic empowerment, informal sector support, or women in markets is an asset. Experience in facilitating workshops, delivering trainings, and liaising with government agencies or donors is also desirable.
