Organizational Context
UN Women in Tunisia is implementing the EU-funded "Support to Women's Employment in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region through Gender-Responsive Private Sector Development" programme. This initiative is part of the broader "Surging Women Employment by 5% before 2030 (SWEI)" Flagship Initiative. The Private Sector Analyst will support the country office in advancing this strategy, working closely with the Regional Private Sector Specialist.
Job Purpose
The Private Sector Analyst in Tunisia will provide substantive support for the implementation of the private sector component of the EU-funded programme. The role focuses on increasing women's employment through gender-responsive workplaces and transformative partnerships with the private sector. This includes expanding the network of Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) signatory companies, assisting companies in adopting gender-responsive policies, assessing procurement practices to include women-owned businesses, and identifying employment opportunities for women. The position contributes to Tunisia's target of creating 47,000 new jobs for women by 2030 and involves engaging national stakeholders, including public and private actors and the EU Delegation.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will provide substantive support for private sector engagement and WEPs implementation, including recruiting and onboarding new WEP signatory companies and providing technical assistance on WEP principles. They will conduct company assessments, develop gender action plans, and organize national workshops for private sector actors. The role involves coordinating the mapping and engagement of private sector companies to create employment opportunities for women and connecting women-owned businesses and job seekers with these opportunities. Partnership and stakeholder coordination with relevant national and international entities, including business associations and the EU Delegation, is crucial. The analyst will also track and report on private sector results, document success stories, and contribute to national and regional progress reports.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressive work experience in developing, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on gender and private sector programmes is required. Experience in providing advisory support to the private sector on women's economic empowerment and knowledge of women's economic empowerment in the Arab States are also required. Experience in capacity building for stakeholders and working with the UN is desirable.
Skills
Strong knowledge of women's economic empowerment and private sector partnerships for Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment (GEWE). Strong analytical and networking skills. Ability to synthesize program performance data and produce analytical reports. Ability to identify trends, opportunities, and threats. Strong knowledge of the Arab Region. Ability to write policy papers, speeches, and briefings.
