Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to provide essential technical and operational assistance to UN Women's departmental liaisons in Izabal and Alta Verapaz, Guatemala. The primary goal is to ensure the effective integration of gender equality, women's empowerment, and women's rights into humanitarian actions within these regions. The role will focus on enhancing women's leadership and participation in disaster prevention, response, and recovery efforts, contributing to more equitable and effective humanitarian outcomes. The consultant will support capacity-building initiatives, strengthen community protection networks, and facilitate the inclusion of gender perspectives in humanitarian planning and decision-making processes.
Responsibilities
The consultant will provide technical and logistical support for training and capacity-building activities targeting women's organizations, institutions, and humanitarian teams, focusing on gender equality, human rights, and women's empowerment. Responsibilities include supporting processes to strengthen community protection networks in preventing sexual exploitation and abuse (PEAS) and addressing gender-based violence in emergencies. The consultant will assist in developing the Gender Working Group's actions in Alta Verapaz, facilitating coordination and participation in planning and decision-making spaces. They will also support activities advancing the Women, Peace, and Security agenda and the triple nexus of peace, humanitarian action, and development. This includes providing technical support for developing the capacities of local women's organizations and protection networks for participation in the humanitarian cycle, risk management, and peacebuilding processes.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in gender equality, humanitarian action, or program support is required. Experience working with local communities, women's organizations, and government institutions in Guatemala is highly desirable. Proven experience in organizing and facilitating workshops and training sessions is also preferred.
