Job Purpose

The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant supports the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in ensuring the effectiveness and impact of UNRWA's programs in Syria. This role involves actively following up with program departments to ensure timely and accurate data collection, clarifying any inconsistencies. The assistant contributes to research activities by developing questionnaires and surveys, and assists in designing appropriate indicators, targets, and benchmarks for monitoring and evaluation. A key function is analyzing collected data, writing summary reports, and preparing visual aids to interpret results and trends. The role also supports project officers in data preparation for donor reports and coordinates logistical arrangements for monitoring activities, including field visits and meetings.

Responsibilities

The incumbent follows up with Programme departments to ensure the completion and accuracy of data collection tools, clarifying any missing or inconsistent information. They support research activities by developing questionnaires and surveys to assess intervention effectiveness. The role contributes to designing indicators, targets, and benchmarks for monitoring and evaluating program impact. Responsibilities include reviewing and analyzing data, writing summary reports based on findings, and preparing tables, charts, and visuals to interpret results. The assistant also coordinates logistical arrangements for meetings and surveys, prepares field monitoring tools, drafts findings after field visits, and supports Projects Officers in preparing accurate data for donor reports.

Work Experience

A minimum of four years of relevant work experience is required in planning processes, research, or monitoring and evaluation. Experience within an international organization and/or a UN Agency is preferred.

Skills

Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting. Experience in developing questionnaires and surveys. Ability to design monitoring and evaluation indicators. Strong organizational and coordination skills. Familiarity with data visualization. Competencies include Integrity, Professionalism, Respect for Diversity, Communication, Working with People, and Drive for Results.
