Its Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (ROLAC) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, focuses on developing and managing activities within the country. This role supports the Social Territories Program, aiming to address urban poverty through enhanced institutional capacity and community engagement.

Job Purpose

This Junior Communications Assistant role supports the UN-Habitat Brazil office in implementing the Social Territories Program. The purpose is to assist in communication activities that contribute to addressing multidimensional urban poverty by enhancing institutional capacity, promoting social participation, and improving access to opportunities. The role will involve supporting event organization, content creation and management, dissemination of advocacy materials, and documenting program activities to ensure effective communication and alignment with UN-Habitat's objectives and project requirements.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include participating in the production and organization of events, workshops, and meetings, ensuring alignment with local needs. The role involves contributing to publication activities and content management, adhering to established design and branding standards. Disseminating corporate advocacy materials for initiatives, publications, and campaigns under the Social Territories Programme is crucial. Additionally, the assistant will cover workshops with visual content, produce human impact stories, and maintain an organized system for communication materials. Reporting on activities, ensuring quality expectations are met, and managing deliverables within timelines are also key duties.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of experience in communications and advocacy within Brazil is required. Previous experience working with the United Nations is desirable. Experience in project management methodologies is also a plus.

Skills

Proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and web search tools. Strong communication, planning, and organization skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Knowledge of project management methodologies is desirable.
