The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) promotes sustainable urban development and adequate housing for all. Based in Rio de Janeiro, the Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (ROLAC) focuses on developing and managing activities within Brazil, supporting local governments and partners in implementing urban policies and the Social Territories Program.

Job Purpose

This Field Agent role supports the UN-Habitat Social Territories Program in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, by directly engaging with communities and families. The purpose is to facilitate the program's implementation by identifying participants, administering questionnaires, providing information, and disseminating program activities. The role contributes to strengthening the municipality's strategy for addressing urban poverty by enhancing institutional capacity, promoting social participation, and improving access to essential opportunities, ultimately helping to transform urban areas into more inclusive and resilient places.

Responsibilities

The Field Agent will actively identify and outreach to families for the program's integrated protocol, administer questionnaires, and visit/engage with selected families to provide information and guidance. Responsibilities include disseminating program information within communities, contributing to the organization and implementation of local events, and participating in community meetings. The role also involves ensuring technical activities align with UN-Habitat quality standards, preparing monthly activity reports, and formatting reports according to specified guidelines. Upholding ethical principles, promoting inclusivity, and performing other assigned duties are also key responsibilities.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of experience in community mobilization, administering questionnaires, and conducting interviews within Brazil is required. Previous experience working with the United Nations is considered desirable.

Skills

Proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook. Web search tool proficiency. Knowledge of project management methodologies is desirable. Strong communication, planning, organization, and teamwork skills are essential. Professionalism and integrity are expected.
