CCAC National Project Coordinator for the Philippines
Organizational Context
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) hosts the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) Secretariat. The CCAC is a global initiative focused on reducing short-lived climate pollutants. The Philippines is a State Partner, and this role supports national efforts to integrate SLCPs into climate and air quality policies.
Job Purpose
The National Project Coordinator will strengthen the capacity of the Philippines' Environmental Management Bureau to coordinate national planning, policy, and implementation efforts related to Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (SLCPs). This role is crucial for advancing the Philippines' climate action agenda, supporting the implementation of CCAC-funded projects, and enhancing the country's engagement with the CCAC. The position will facilitate technical support, raise national awareness, foster inter-institutional coordination, and provide comprehensive support to the Philippines' CCAC Board Member, ultimately contributing to integrated climate and air quality solutions.
Responsibilities
Coordinate national SLCP planning, policy, and implementation efforts in close collaboration with the CCAC Secretariat and the Environmental Management Bureau. Develop and implement SLCP emission and mitigation assessments and projects, including a national rice sub-sector strategy. Provide technical support for the implementation of SLCP commitments and the preparation of the Biennial Transparency Report (BTR2). Facilitate inter-institutional coordination and engage stakeholders at national and sub-national levels. Support the Philippines CCAC Board Member by preparing briefings, managing documents, and ensuring smooth participation in meetings. Identify new opportunities for CCAC engagement and contribute to regional coalition efforts.
Work Experience
At least two years of professional experience in climate change, air pollution, sustainable development, or environment and health is required. Demonstrated ability to provide technical assistance to governments and stakeholders, and to work effectively with diverse groups, is necessary.
Skills
Technical assistance, stakeholder engagement, communication (written and oral presentations), knowledge of national climate change mitigation and air pollution policies, understanding of SLCPs, climate change, and air pollution issues in the Philippines, Excel proficiency.
