The Financial Management Section (FM) is responsible for budgetary and financial management, including analysis, reporting, and risk management, ensuring accountability and compliance with UN regulations. This internship is within the FM Section at ITC Headquarters in Geneva.

Job Purpose

This internship aims to provide practical experience in financial management within the International Trade Centre (ITC). The intern will gain exposure to ITC's goals and operational procedures, specifically within the Financial Management Section. The role contributes to the section's mandate by supporting financial analysis, reporting, and compliance activities. Key learning elements include understanding financial statement preparation, financial analysis techniques, and the UN's financial regulatory framework, fostering a clear understanding of the section's core tasks and their contribution to ITC's overall financial health and accountability.

Responsibilities

The intern will support the Financial Management Section by conducting research and data collection for policy and standard operating procedure development. Responsibilities include researching prospective grantees and reviewing their financial documentation. The role involves financial analysis, including assessing annual accounts, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flows, and preparing detailed financial reports. Assistance will be provided in reviewing grant agreements and reconciling grantee accounts. The intern will also participate in management control activities such as budget preparation and cost analysis, and contribute to internal or external audit missions by verifying financial data. Additionally, the role includes identifying potential financial risks and proposing mitigation strategies.
