Trade Facilitation Intern
Organizational Context
The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva seeks an intern for the Trade Facilitation Section within the Division of Technology and Logistics. This is an unpaid, full-time internship, offered either in-person or remotely, for an initial period of three months with a possible extension.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide students or recent graduates with practical experience in trade facilitation. The intern will support the Trade Facilitation Section's research and technical assistance activities, focusing on improving cross-border clearance efficiency, trade growth, and sustainability, particularly for developing countries. The role involves contributing to research, analysis, and the development of training materials and promotional products for UNCTAD's Empowerment Programme, enhancing capacity building for National Trade Facilitation Committees.
Responsibilities
The intern will participate in team meetings, conduct research and analysis on trade facilitation, customs, transit, and supply chain technologies. Key duties include assisting in standardizing training materials for the UNCTAD Empowerment Programme, preparing promotional content (brochures, presentations), and supporting the organization and delivery of workshops. The role also involves drafting short reports, preparing relevant documents like presentations and project proposals, and providing general support to the Section's activities. Remote interns must ensure their computer meets IT security best practices.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, applicants must be pursuing or have completed a degree in a field closely related to trade facilitation, customs, logistics, or supply chain management. Applicants must also demonstrate computer literacy in standard software applications.
