Organizational Context

The UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Kenya supports the UN Resident Coordinator and the UN Country Team to align with national development priorities. It enhances coherence across UN entities, focusing on strategic planning, partnerships, data, and communications. The RCO facilitates the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.

Job Purpose

This internship aims to support the UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Kenya with communications and multimedia production. The intern will contribute to communicating current UN results and assist in preparations for the next programme cycle. Working under the supervision of the Communications, Advocacy and Coordination Officer, the role involves creating engaging content that highlights the connection between SDGs, UN initiatives, and Kenya's development. The intern will gain practical experience in multimedia storytelling, content creation, and coordination within a UN communications framework, contributing fresh ideas and supporting the implementation of the UN Kenya communications work plan.

Responsibilities

The intern will be responsible for video and multimedia storytelling, including researching story ideas that link SDGs and UN work to Kenya's development priorities. This involves supporting the preparation of briefs, scripts, and storyboards for various video formats. Duties include filming interviews and events, editing footage for web and social media, and adding elements like subtitles and graphics according to UN branding and accessibility standards. The role also entails creating motion graphics and data-led visuals. Additionally, the intern will support event coverage through photography and videography, coordinate production logistics, assist with inter-agency communication efforts, and manage digital assets, ensuring proper file organization and handover of source files.

Work Experience

Professional work experience is not required for this internship. Relevant capability can be demonstrated through academic assignments, volunteer work, previous internships, freelance projects, or personal projects. A portfolio or showreel showcasing video or multimedia work is essential.
